Hey everyone,

As we put the finishing touches on our Spring Sing set, we wanted to let you know that we’re having another contest to win a FREE tickets to the concert!

To win a ticket, just head over to our Facebook page and post a rhyme about Superfood. Doesn’t have to be long, just has to be fun and creative. We were inspired to do this from a comment we got in our contest last year, which was written by Brian Borromeo:

Are you a singer? Interested in a cappella? Audition for SUPERFOOD! We’re a co-ed a cappella group here at Georgetown and we’re looking for new members this fall. Auditions will take place on SEPTEMBER 5th at 5PM OR SEPTEMBER 6th at 9PM. Callbacks will be held on SEPTEMBER 7th at 9PM.
 
Auditioning is pretty simple! Just prepare a verse and a chorus of any song that really showcases your voice (preferably pop, rock, alternative, r&b, or country) and we’ll teach you the rest. Click through the tabs below to read about what you can expect:

At the beginning of each audition round, everyone will warm up together by singing a couple of scales. Next you’ll split up into your individual vocal parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) to learn a few measures of one of the songs in our repertoire. After practicing in separate groups, we’ll combine all the parts to get a better sense of what it should sound like. Then we’ll ask you to sign up for individual audition slots for later that day.
Your individual audition will last only about 10 minutes, so don’t sweat it! When you show up, the FIRST thing we’ll ask you to do is sing a scale up to your highest note and down to your lowest note so we can hear your range. SECOND, you’ll sing back a few random notes that we play for you on the piano so we can get a better idea of your ability to recognize pitches. THIRD, you, along with a few of our members, will sing the song that you learned earlier in the audition process. We’ll be listening particularly for blending and dynamics. THIRD, you’ll sing your solo – the verse and chorus of the song that you prepared. FINALLY, we may ask you some general questions. Then you’re done!
In your individual audition, we MAY ask you to sing a few lines of a well-known song like Amazing Grace or the National Anthem, so it might be helpful to familiarize yourself with those songs if need be. This may seem like a lot, but we’ll guide you every step of the way. We’re rooting for you to sound as awesome as you are, so there’s no need to feel nervous!

We’ll be in Reynolds 141 (#39 on this map). It’s the only room in the corner of the lobby, you can’t miss it! Welcome to our new website! Ain’t it purdy? I’ve been working on this new design for a while now, and am so excited to finally show it to you all.

This new site is leaps and bounds better than our old site, which was based on flash. It was slow, unresponsive, and didn’t work on most mobile devices. Big bummer. But this new site is fast, works on all mobile devices (even audio and video!) and is down right sexy, in my humble opinion.

So what’s so great about it? We have tons of our recordings over on our audio page, all our of performance videos on the videos page, as well as a whole boat load of pictures. You can also now read (and search) our entire repertoire from 1995-2011, and read up on all of our members and leftover food (alumni).

But perhaps most importantly, the new site allows us to post news, updates, and other bits of information on the homepage, to keep you guys up to date on everything Superfood.

So go click around the site. There’s lots to hear, see, taste, and smell.
