Origin

Superfood was formed in 1995 by a group of Georgetown University students who just wanted to sing and have a good time. Today, the faces and voices of Superfood are different, but the same love for music, performing, and camaraderie has kept us going strong for 15+ years!

The origin of Superfood is centered around the Odwalla™ beverage.  According to legend, Superfood founder Michael Burns (’98) was hiking up a mountain when he felt his strength wavering.  Upon drinking the mud-green Superfood, his stamina was restored and he was able to reach the top of the mountain.  Michael was not only rejuvenated, but also inspired to start an a cappella group of the same name of the drink that energized him.

What We Do

We:

…sing! (mostly pop, rock, and r&b)

…perform several times a year at various venues with groups from both on and off campus.

…annually co-host Spring Sing, the largest spring a cappella concert on campus.

…are currently in the process of planning and recording our second studio album.

…hold auditions every spring and fall. (Keep an eye out for details!)
